The Department of Electrical Engineering started functioning in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 students. The Department offers a B.Tech. course in Electrical Engineering This course is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela, where the students are required to do forty-four theory papers and eighteen practical papers over a period of four years. Such an intensive course work ensures that the students are exposed to the latest technological developments taking place globally.

The Department Students’ Council organizes a national level symposium every year. Students are encouraged to participate in this symposium as well as in seminars and conferences organized by other colleges and universities. Students are also encouraged to make industrial visits and undertake industrial projects. Final year students of the Department carry out projects in the area/s of Fuzzy Logic, Power Electronics, Neural Networks and Expert System Applications, Fault Location in Power Systems Using Computer Networks, Computer aided Design of Transformers, Sub-station and Electrical Machine Design, Microprocessor Applications and Control, Speech Recognition, DSP and PLC based Systems, Power Management through the Web, etc. The Department’s excellent infrastructure houses several well-equipped laboratories and equipment that enable students to develop their practical skills.
