The Department of Mechanical
Engineering offers an under-graduate (B.Tech) course in Mechanical
Engineering. This course is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik
University of Technology, Rourkela.
The
B.Tech syllabus is oriented towards giving importance to areas
relating to Production, Design and Thermal Engineering. In the 6th,
7th and 8th semesters, students are offered
elective courses focusing on the various areas of Mechanical
Engineering that are industrially relevant. Final year students
are required to do a project in their respective areas of
interest, highlighting the theory of synergy and practice of
different specializations of Mechanical Engineering. The final
students are required to do projects in the areas of Energy
Conservation and Management, Harnessing of
Non-conventional Energy Sources, Computational Fluid
Dynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Alternative Fuels, Design and
Simulation of Thermal Power Equipment, etc.
